In 1976, the company acquired an existing random length sawmill which became Prairie Wood Products.

In 1978, a separate stud mill and planer operation was built and went into operation on the Prairie Wood Products site .

The company expanded into the generation of electricity by building two co-generation plants near its sawmills in 1986 and 1987.

Umpqua Lumber Company, a highly efficient studmill, was acquired in 1992. In the same year, Grant Western was acquired. It was modernized a year later, and is now one of the finest producers of pine products in the industry.

The most recent addition to the D.R. Companies is Wallowa Forest Products, purchased in 1996.

Throughout its years of growth the company has adhered to its basic goals of supplying good value and service to its customers.

Don Johnson wouldn’t have it any other way!
